  • Robert Mechielsen

    Founder

    Robert Mechielsen, a Dutch native and founder of Studio RMA,, studied Architecture and Engineering at the Technical University in Delft, The Netherlands and at the Ecole d’Architecture, Beaux Arts, Paris, France. Robert, who sketches and sculpts in his spare time, has a keen sense of Architectural Proportions, is a gifted Mathematician, as well as a scholar of Physics and Engineering.

    In his first Studio, located in Amsterdam, he designed homes, restaurants and movie sets for projects ranging in locations from the South of France to New York.

    New jobs in Hawaii and on the West Coast led his move to Los Angeles, where he settled in Topanga Canyon, a hot-bed of screenwriters and special effects experts serving the nearby Malibu film community.

    His international work brought in commissions extending from renovations of the Amsterdam Opera House to design challenges such as the Ice Hotel in Lapland, Sweden.

    Studio RMA meanwhile implemented Robert’s innovations to design a series of super-green homes with SCIP (Structural Concrete Insulated Panels) technology, culminating in the Hi’ilani EcoHouse in Hawaii, the first Carbon Neutral Concrete Home built in the United States.

    Innovation is the driving force in Robert’s life. His expertise evolved into the creation of VERTIKAAL with a focus on smart urban development.

  • James A. Rosen

    Business Affairs

    James Rosen graduated from the University of Florida with a BA in Political Science and minors in Marketing and Speech Communication and a JD from the University of Texas School of Law. While practicing law for a large San Francisco firm, he specialized in business transactions.

    He moved to Los Angeles where he became a motion picture literary agent with ICM Partners, representing screenwriters and directors of many popular, high-grossing films.

    After fifteen years, James was hired as a Business Development executive for a major architecture firm and subsequently, HBA, the leading hospitality design firm in the world. James eventually opened his own consultancy in South Florida, where he currently resides.
